:jib, does this match your expectations with the permissions-related work you've done?

Hi Mark, thanks for your report! You're experiencing Meet's "priming" screen, where they explain why Meet needs permission to your devices. Can I assume you agree this flow is appropriate for first-time users?

Expected Behavior:
Enter the meeting with my permissions saved

Are you saying it's not the first time you're joining a Meet meeting in this Firefox profile? It's unclear from the video. Unfortunately, Google Meet demands persistent permission before dropping their priming step, even though Firefox doesn't give that out unless the user checks ☑ Remember this decision. We're aware this creates a slow-lane for Firefox users that don't check that box.

But I have a question: In the video I notice you actually do check the ☑ Remember this decision button before joining the meeting. This should get rid of the priming screen on all future visits, but your video doesn't show you joining the meeting a second time after that. Are you claiming that clicking ☑ Remember this decision doesn't work to get rid of the priming screen, or something else?

default system camera is used (as opposed to previously selected preferred camera) and the participant is required to (again) Join the meeting.

Where did you previously select your preferred camera? From inside a Firefox prompt, or under ⚙️ Settings within Meet?

Thanks for your response :jib,

It appears that the permissions flow has been updated (somewhat) recently, as I'm no longer able to reproduce this issue in Nightly 97.0a1. Permissions remain granted after leaving/rejoining the meeting in my testing today.

Recursively answering your questions: It was not the first time joining a Meet meeting with that Firefox profile. Every time I would join a meeting, I'd need to grant permissions to my microphone and camera (even after selecting remember this decision ).

I had selected the preferred camera under the Settings within Meet and then granted access within the Firefox prompt (and then would select remember this decision)

Based on Comment 3, this appears to be fixed in 97. Please reopen if the issue reappears.
