User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:95.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/95.0
Firefox for Android
Steps to reproduce:
Probably happens when I am wiping my phone to install a new custom OS without logging out of my firefox account on my phone.
Actual results:
When I want to send a tab to my phone, it is listed three times but my phone is only listed once in my connected services. It will be more clear in the screenshot.
Any possible solutions without clearing data or logouts?
Expected results:
There should only be one of each device to send the tab to.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Sync' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

I tried to reproduce the issue on the latest Firefox Preview Nightly 2022-01-03, but was unable to. Have you tried signing out the device then logging back again?
Devices used: Google Pixel 6 (Android 12), OnePlus 6T (Android 9)

I tried to reproduce the issue on the latest Firefox Preview Nightly 2022-01-03, but was unable to.
That's surprising - wiping a phone without logging out is almost certainly going to cause a duplicate - something that I doubt we can reasonably fix in the short term.
Have you tried signing out the device then logging back again?
I believe we have a bug on Android where even if you log out the device it will remain in the connected devices list - ie, I believe that suggestion would actually make the problem worse :( Did you actually try that?

I retested the issue and managed to reproduce using the following steps.
- On windows login to Firefox using a valid account
- On a new phone download Firefox from the Play store;
- Sign in to Firefox mobile with the same account from step 1;
- Perform a sync and on Firefox windows and verify that the device was added;
- Perform a factory reset on the phone;
- On the phone download Firefox and login with the same account from step 1.
- Perform a sync and on Firefox windows verify that the device was added;
- Perform steps 5 to 7 one more time.
After a factory reset and logging in to Firefox the device appears multiple times (in my case 3 times) when trying to send a tab from Windows but is listed only once in the connected services section.
I managed to find a workaround to this by going to the connected services section on Firefox for Windows and signing out of the device, I had to remove the device three times. On the phone I relogged to my Firefox account and the device was listed only once when trying to send a tab.

This is known and there's nothing we can do about it - the device will remain listed for 3 weeks, after which it will disappear. It's possible to remove the device manually via "manage devices". CANTFIX would be a more accurate resolution but WONTFIX is the closest we have.
