HP4050tn print takes ages to complete

Steps to reproduce:
Thunderbird 91.4.1 running on MAC Book Pro 15" 2018 2,2GHz I7 6core 16GB RAM with OS 12.0.1 Monterey
Before the latest Thunderbird update everything was running fine.
Now, if I launch a print of a short 3-4 line mail on our HP4050tn printer it takes several minutes before the job is executed.
Printing from any other software runs smooth as before, so the bug is definitely in Thunderbird.
Even worse if I open an enclosed pdf-file and print it from inside Thunderbird. 30 minutes plus is not enough in this case.
If instead I save that file to desktop, open it from there via Acrobat Reader and print it, the job is done in 10 secs.
Actual results:
Prints take forever to proceed, both mails and (even worse) enclosed pdfs.
Expected results:
Prints should proceed rapidly, as was the case before the last update of Thunderbird
I do not understand - the problem is related to printing a mail, or a pdf file enclosed in a mail, from Thunderbird ?
Firefox is a webbrowser ?

Thunderbird uses the same code as Firefox for the printing.
I tried to print the first 2 pages of www.faz.de - same result: it does not print

Can you provide a CUPS error log of trying to print with Firefox? See here for some info on how to get it and increase verbosity if needed.
A performance profile could be interesting as well, but hard to say if it will show anything since this seems driver-specific.
Does printing using the system dialog work?

:jwatt, since the bug has recent activity, could you have a look please?

Sorry, I am not able to produce the requested file.
In the meantime I updated the MaC OS to 12.5.1 and Thunderbird to 91.13.0 => problem remained unchanged
Just now I upgraded Thunderbird to 102.2.2 => prints right away as it should
