The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Preferences' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Preferences

Have you interacted with the website before it played or not?
If so, it is how it should be.
The same is for example if you have a link to a video on Youtube then it wont play automatically and you need to start it. But if you click then on another video you already interacted with the site and the following videos play automatically

I did not click on the video or interact with the page in any way.

Thanks for reporting!
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reproduce this issue on Firefox 95 and Nightly 98 on macOS 11.6 (Big Sur). Can you provide more information about the content of the pop-up video? Could it be an ad? Could you be more specific on the options you enabled in about:preferences?
A screenshot/screen recording of the issue and the settings would be helpful.

I got auto-upgraded to Firefox 96 and can't reproduce the problem any more myself. The site appears to try to play the video, but it is successfully blocked. Yay!
