I tried to add Ralf.Schweiger@informatik.med.uni-giessen.de to the CC field in
bug 16641, but I got the following "nice" response:

But: Ralf is alive, the email is _valid_ (and registered througth a x500 DB !).

Any hint whats going on here ?

I tried this with Netscape 4.7 on Solaris 7 SPARC...
Does he have a Bugzilla account?
IMHO no. He found the problem, and I wrote the report for him... (I'm
responsible for reporting all Mozilla 5 related bugs from within our
institute...).
I assume that only Mozilla accout emails can be CC'ed, right ? Then it would be
nice to make the error message little bit for informative (RFE  :-)) ...

Yes, that is the problem.  I have changed the summary of the bug from

   BugZilla rejects CC: for Ralf.Schweiger@informatik.med.uni-giessen.de

to instead read

   Need a better error message if CC'd user has no Bugzilla account
Status: ASSIGNED → RESOLVED
Closed: 25 years ago
Resolution: --- → DUPLICATE

Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
moving all closed Bugzilla bugs to the new Bugzilla product.
This batch is DUPLICATE/INVALID/WORKSFORME/WONTFIX
reassigning to default owner and QA in case of the bug being reopened.
Clearing milestones, since we really shouldn't have them on these types of
resolutions.  Sorry for the spam everyone...
