Details
the problem is reproducible, but i found that it only happens when browsing a
site with frames. if i have a page with two frames open and click on a link
which should open another page in the same frame that the link is in, but the
link is broken and results in a 404 server response, the back button stops
working. it does not work even if i follow the links in the other frame that
doesn't contain the 404 message to other pages. it doesn't start working until
i close and reopen the browser window. it still works in all other browser
windows.

ALways, really ALWAYS add the build ID/milestone version in a bug report.
Summary: back button stops working after a 404 is received → back button stops working after a 404 is received
