Testcase: http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/ The submit button at the bottom isn't displayed (it is replaced by the text "Tell us"). This is the source: <INPUT TYPE="image" NAME="submit" VALUE="Tell Us" SRC=" images/send_feedback.gif" BORDER=0> Removing the space between SRC=" and images displays the picture again. Since such minor coding errors are ignored for tags like <a href> or <img src>, I suggest to ignore spaces inside urls in this case as well.
A very bad idea. Spaces can be significant characters in paths and filenames, and we should make no assumptions about whether or not they're valid. Page authors can always make mistakes that break their pages. It's their responsibility to correct them, not the application vendor's. Resolving invalid.

Actually, this is supposed to be worked around in the parser by stripping leading and trailing whitespace. See bug 87894. Not sure why this wouldn't be working in Chimera.

"Spaces can be significant characters in paths and filenames," Actually, spaces in URLs are not allowed, and whitespace is to be ignored (e.g. stripped out), so that http:// w ww.apple .com/ should turn into http://www.apple.com/ . Although I agree putting whitespace in the [src] attribute is a bad idea, we should be able to workaround it.
This is fixed on the trunk.
