Steps to reproduce:

  1. Hit Ctrl+N to compose new message

Setup:

  • Windows 10, Thunderbird 91.5.1 or Thunderbird 98 daily of January 27, 2022.
  • Dell Vostro laptop with Intel Iris Xe Graphics.
  • Intel display driver 27.20.100.9749 of June 24, 2021.
  • Internal screen is at 1920x1080 with 150 % magnification, external screen is at 2560x1440 with 125 % magnification.
  • However problem also occurs in single monitor setup (no external screen connected) at 1920x1080 with 100 % magnification.

Actual results:

The layout of the message compose header input fields is broken / very unorderly / partly cut, see first screenshot (upper part of the image)

This issue is 100 % reproducable on my setup.

Sometimes (not 100 % reproducable), when I drag the window from the monitor on which it opened to the other monitor, the issue is resolved, see second screenshot (lower part of the image).

Expected results:

Normal layout (no dark gray frame, input fields neatly placed, no cut/overlap) should be used right away and not only after dragging to different monitor.

We've had reports about this before as well. IIRC it's an add-on causing the problem (try -safe-mode, that is Help | Troubleshoot mode). If disabling add-ons that way is not enough, use the troubleshoot dialog controls to reset the toolbars etc.
