[Affected versions]:

  • Firefox Unbranded Release 96.0.1

[Affected platforms]:

  • Windows 10 x64
  • macOS 11.6.2

[Prerequisites]:

  • Have a Normandy recipe with the DNSSEC Interference Measurement v3 add-on live.
  • Have a browser profile enrolled in the Normandy experiment.

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Open the browser with the profile from prerequisites.
  2. Navigate to about:telemetry and wait for the final event marked "STUDY_MEASUREMENT_COMPLETED" to appear.
  3. Observe the "udpAWebExt" parameter from the "dnsData" section of the ping.

[Expected result]:

  • The "udpAWebExt" parameter has the ["34.120.4.181"] value.

[Actual result]:

  • The "udpAWebExt" parameter has no value.

[Notes]:

  • Attached a copy of the "STUDY_MEASUREMENT_COMPLETED" ping.

I didn't correctly update the domain name that we query with dns.resolve(). Should be fixed now. Will get you a new add-on shortly.

I've retested this using the latest version of the DNSSEC add-on and the issue is no longer reproducible. Verified using Firefox Unbranded Release 96.0.1, Build ID 20220113185450, on Windows 10 x64 and macOS 11.6.2.
