Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:96.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/96.0
Steps to reproduce:
In Logins and Password, I can view passwords without a prompt for the Primary Password.
Actual results:
Not getting any prompts for the Primary Password on Win 11. I cleared all data and history and still no prompt for the Primary Password. On my Linux computer I get the prompts every time I update Nightly and when I clear history and saved data.
Firefox 96.0.3
Edition Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview
Version Dev
Installed on 05-Feb-22
OS build 22543.1000
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22543.1000.0
Expected results:
When I click to view any saved password, there should have been a prompt for the Primary Password in order to view the saved password.

:jonzn4SUSE, thank you for reporting that. You are right to expect it to work the same way on Windows as it works on Linux.
Lets confirm settings/configs first.
- I'm assuming you have "Use a Primary Password" checked on at about:preferences#privacy?
- In your about:config the value of
signon.masterPasswordReprompt.timeout_ms
is 900000 (15 minutes)? - When you restart browser and visit about:logins you get no primary password prompt?
- There are no error messages in Menu > More Tools > Browser Toolbox > Console?
- If you create a new profile on about:profiles and set Primary Password there, it doesn't work either?

OMG!!! It's not set! ;-((
Linux is my daily driver and I ass-u-med that all the settings were synced to Windows. LMAO
I just read that the Primary Password is not synced, but I'm not 100% sure about.
Let me install a 2nd version on Windows 11 sync it and see what happens.

I'm glad we cleared it up, there is nothing embarrassing in it!
Primary Password is actually a "Local Password", it is never synced.
