Steps to reproduce:

Hello, I have problem with some attachments in TB Daily. When I double click the attachment in the TB (in the main wiew or e-mail itself open in the tab), the attachment doesn't open but it tries save the attachment. Attachment name is not written in the Name field.
Attached e-mail with .odp files.

Workaround:

• open e-mail
• select attachment
• menu File > Save as > File

Save dialog appears and TB tries to save selected attachment (not whole e-mail). I'm not sure if it's another bug (I would expect save whole e-mail).

Actual results:

TB is save attachment.

Expected results:

Open the attachment in associated program.

Thanks for the test email and video.

• I opened the email in my Thunderbird Daily 98.0a1 Build 20220206101957 on Fedora 35 Workstation, Gnome 41 desktop, x11 Window Protocol.
• Selected the first attachment
• Used File > Save As > File from the menu and the attachment name is filled in the dialog allowing me to save it.
• Selected the 2nd attachment.
• Right-clicked on it and selected "Save As".
• The save dialog opened with that attachments name filled in, allowing me to save it.

When I double-clicked, or right-clicked and chose "Open".
The "What should Thunderbird do with this file" dialog opened, offering me the choice to open with LibreOffice Impress.
Clicked "OK" and it did open with that application.

Sorry, that I can't reproduce the issue.

Enabled "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" and the attachments opened with LibreOffice Impress.

I am on 98.0b2 (64-bit) under Windows 7 Pro and this issue is happening to me always. I cannot open e-mail attachments from within Thunderbird starting with the last few beta releases. Instead, when I double-click on an attachment or select Open from its context menu, I get a save dialog with "title" for a title, no types in the "Save as type" drop-down and a blank Filename.

This is still an issue in 98.0b3.

The bad behavior is dependent on the Action specified for the file type of the attachment in Thunderbird's Settings. If the Action is "Save File," then it's misbehaving when you click on an attachment or right-click on it and select Open. If the Action is set to anything other than "Save File," then all attachment functions work as they should.

I checked this on Thunderbird 102, and it works on Windows and Linux. Does it work for you as well?
