Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64) Gecko/20110209 Firefox/99.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Select newsgroup and select View>Threads>Unread.
- Move to a different newsgroup, and back to the original newsgroup.
Actual results:
Step 1. marks the Unread menu item with a dot, and only unread articles are shown. This is correct
Step 2. under View>Threads the All menu item is marked with a dot, and all articles are shown. This is incorrect.
Expected results:
Step 2. Unread menu item should be marked with a dot, and only unread articles should be shown. That is, moving to a different newsgroup and back should not have changed anything.

What Linux version, desktop, Wayland or X11?
I can't reproduce using the Fedora build of Thunderbird 91.5.0 on Fedora 35 Workstation, Gnome 41 desktop, Xll window protocol.
Have you tested this using Help > Troubleshoot Mode to see if an extension is interfering?
I'm using Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, X11. Running Troubleshoot Mode doesn't help, going back to an older version of Thunderbird solves the problem.

Sorry, I can't reproduce using version 78.14.0, or 91.5.0 on Fedora 35.
Do you know where the above setting is supposed to be stored?

Do you know where the above setting is supposed to be stored?
No, I don't.
The problem was solved by a complete reinstall of thunderbird.
