Incompletely loads and I get an animated spinner "Loading..." in the center of the screen. Can't login. Works fine in Ungoogled Chromium.

firefox-96.0-1.fc36.x86_64

Problem remains when relaunching in safe mode.

Another example site is wunderground.com. It starts to load, then the page goes completely white (blank). I'm noticing both website have this problem only with this user profile. If I create a new user profile, the problem doesn't happen. It happens in safe-mode, as well as after clearing the cache.

debugger shows this for the wunderground.com example:

Summary: kp.org website partially loads, unable to login → websites partially load, unable to login

With the new user profile I've restored the addons I use; and changed trr mode to 3 (Fedora defaults to 5). The problem still doesn't happen. Something about the previous user profile's state is causing this issue.

And another example, https://messages.google.com/web/ where I never see anything but a white page, but I briefly see a status loading icon in the tab. If I blow away the profile, it works. But with the existing profile, it fails even in safe-mode. And with a new profile, it starts to fail again within 24 hours.

Debugging tab has three errors:

Please could you try a fresh profile for a while without add-ons enabled?

If that reproduces the issue, then do you have a third party application that might be interfering with Firefox? (e.g. a cleaner)

Flags: needinfo?(bugzilla)

I've tried a fresh profile without add-ons enabled, but eventually the problem reoccurs. There's no 3rd party touching anything that belongs to Firefox. However, I wonder if this is due to going back and forth between Firefox 96 and 97.

Flags: needinfo?(bugzilla)

OK I created a new Fedora user account, and thus clean Firefox profile, no add-ons or 3rd party stuff. Went to these three sites in Firefox 96 and they work fine. Then use Firefox 97, where they likewise work fine. And then revert to Firefox 96 where they each break as described, until I create a new FF user profile again. So it does seem like there's something Firefox 97 does to the user profile state that can break Firefox 96's rendering of previously working sites.

I think this bug can be closed as invalid, sounds like it's expected behavior considering the downgrade.
