What feature should be changed? Please provide the URL of the feature if possible.

the usability of searchbar in the top right corner, e.g. on this page
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/

What problems would this solve?

usability / user experience:

  1. the input field of the search should be open directly and permanently (why do I need to klick the magnifying glass first?)
  2. why does the search input override/replace the dark-light theme switch? this is irritating and seems unneccessary
  3. if focused, only the border glows, but no cursor is blinking to indicate where the user is typing (a blinking cursor is standard in most text input fields)

Who would use this?

most visitors (developers, etc.)

What would users see?

the search input field and the blinking text cursor

What would users do? What would happen as a result?

better usability, the user would get an expected text field behaviour

Is there anything else we should know?

you are doing a really great job and I like the new design! Your website and content is amazing and most helpfull! Thank you all for that!
(sorry, I could only select "security" as component. I used this link to get here: https://developer.mozilla.org/de/docs/MDN/Contribute/Feedback)
