User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/99.0.4844.51 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
Preventing bright flash when moving tab into a new window, or when closing a window in dark window
Actual results:
White flash when opening a new window by moving a tab out of its window.
closing a window.
starting Firefox.
It's the same with and without WebRender. However when opened via app menu, new windows fade in softly.
Expected results:
It would be nice if the window could be (at least) black in this case.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Graphics: WebRender' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:97.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/97.0
Reproduced the issue in release 97, beta 98 and the latest nightly 99.0a1 (2022-03-07) using Windows 10. Changing the component since it doesn't seem to be related to WebRender. If this is not the correct component, feel free to change it to a more appropriate one.
Most likely a duplicate of bug 1566685, but that's a bit old and there are no new updates in it.
This is not a regression, at least not a recent one since there is a bug with the same issue logged for Fx68.
Thanks for the report.

This might be in layout or theme land. cc'ing Emilio because I've seen him land some fixes for white flashes in dark mode recently.

This is also reproducible with Ctrl+Shift+N (restore recently closed window) or opening a maximized window.
