Hey Hunt,
Can you test the issue while in Safe Mode? You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .
Testing with a fresh new profile could help. You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .
If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .
Please use English for further communication.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Layout: Form Controls' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I don't think this is a Form Controls issue; from Google Translate's rendering of the report:
Steps to reproduce:
After the new webpage is opened, directly enter the "Chinese" search string in the URL bar, sometimes the Chinese will become garbled
Actual results:
The search string "Chinese" cannot be entered in the URL bar, but it can be copied and inserted. Or use the field in the center of the FFOX webpage to enter Chinese
Expected results:
In my impression, the old version of FFOX does not have this limitation
it appears to be specifically about the URL bar. Possibly a Widget::Win32-level issue (maybe interacting poorly with the input method the reporter is using? but then why does it work OK within the page?), or else an Address Bar issue if it is somehow mishandling the Chinese text being typed.
Moving to Firefox::Address Bar as that seems to be the directly-involved component, though it may be difficult to diagnose further unless we can get more details from the reporter.

Hunt, could you provide a screenshot and/or video to illustrate the problem? Additionally, can you tell us which version of Windows and which IME you're using?

Hunt replied directly to an auto-generated email from Bugzilla, so I'm posting his response here:
Dear Ms. Cunnane,
Thank you for your query. But I would like to ask you to leave this bug as it is.
Because I am using Win7 (traditional Chinese version) and this OS seems out of date soon.
I have tried a series of similar Chinese input action in Win10 (traditional Chinese version) with IME of 倉頡 (changjie) & 注音 (phonics), and I did not find the same bug again.
It is my bad, I should have informed you sooner.

Hi Hunt,
Thanks very much for getting back to us. Because we do still support Firefox for Windows 7 users, we'll go ahead and keep this bug open. Could you let us know what IME you were using on Windows 7?
Also, please just reply in a comment below, rather than replying to the auto-generated emails from Bugzilla. Thanks!

Reporter, if you're able to run mozregression to find a regression range, that would be a big help!
- Adding regressionwindow-wanted since the report mentioned this did not happen in an older Firefox version
- Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7 in January 2023
- This bug does seem actionable but we'd need to get our hands on Windows 7 Traditional Chinese

Bumping down to S3 given that Windows 7 will be ending support soon.

I could not reproduce the issue on Win7x64 using Beta 97.0b1 and having IME Chinese Traditional - New Phonetic and New ChangJie enabled.
Also could not reproduce on Firefox Beta 97.0 (20220131171509) build using the localized zh-CN version.
Is the issue still reproducing on latest Beta 103.0b9 (https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/candidates/103.0b9-candidates/) and latest Nightly 104.0a1 (https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2022/07/2022-07-17-19-02-35-mozilla-central/) ?
If issue is still reproducing on latest Beta, can you please confirm you are using a new profile and also what are the exact characters/strings that can not enter. Thank you so much.

Re: Monica Chiorean
The bug is still the same.
My Ffox version is 102.0.1 (64 位元) or 102.0.1 (64 bit).

Still can not reproduce the issue on Win7 using Firefox build 102.0.1 (20220705093820), can please check the recording and see what I am missing in order to reproduce it? Thank you so much.

Dear Monica,
I have watched your video, and tried to test the bug again.
What I found is the bug keeps the same way in the newly opened Firefox, but after I tried it in a newly opened TAB-page then the bug is gone.
If my attachment is ok, I guess you would find what I did in the video as attached.

Hello Hunt,
Do you still experience the issue (not able to enter Chinese characters in search bar), on latest Firefox build 106.0.3 (link to build: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/candidates/106.0.3-candidates/build1/)?
I tried on both 102.0.1 and 106.0.3 and I got same behavior as you have on your recording from comment#14 (not reproducing).
Thank you so much.

Hi Monica,
I have made few test on my Firefox v102.01 and I got bad and good news for you.
My test on a newly opened Firefox browser page and a new opened tab-page are both failed, and the bug seems the same as before. But once I erased or removed the wrong text and re-key-in again then I found the inputs on both pages are correct.
My testing hard copies are attached for your reference.

Hi Monica,
New update, my Firefox on Win7 Traditional Chinese OS environment just got an auto update to the version of 106.03. I have done the same tests on it, and the results seems the same for your info. Thank you.

Hello Hunt,
That means that you still can not input "Chinese characters" on search field?

No, I can not input the Chinese character at my first try.
But I have tried to re-click the input textbox or in the web-address column, and re-key in again then I can do the job correctly.
I guess the input action had forced Firefox or its calling DLLs to refresh something. This phenomena is quite different from the Firefox act under Win10 (the Firefox I am using in Win10 is version 106.03).
