(using Phoenix 2002-10-21 on WinNT) With an earlier version of Phoenix, my favicons got all mixed-up, i.e., the wrong favicon was assigned to the wrong bookmark. Now, with the current version I am able to fix them but only by deleting all existing bookmarks for that site, then re-bookmarking it. I don't think this should be necessary, though. Mozilla/Phoenix should automatically correct all references to a site's favicon if you open a bookmark and see a new/different favicon. This includes the behaviour mentioned in the bug Summary -- if there is still a bookmark anywhere in your bookmark file that references that server, then creating a new bookmark will not use the current favicon. P.S. I don't know if this is generic to all Mozilla-based browsers so I am only filing it under "Phoenix/Bookmarks". If it belongs to Mozilla general, please re-file it!
this sounds like an enhancement to 'invalidate favicon cache for bookmarks with the same url when a new favicon is detected'. Tony, is that right?

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021014 Phoenix/0.3 Loading a group of favorites using 'Open in Tabs' loads each page & initially updates the favicons fine, but when you close all the tabs by either using 'Close Other Tabs' or each tab at a time, the favicons are out of order or missing. Usually, the first bookmark's favicon is duplicated to the second bookmark, or is just swapped. Steps to Reproduce: 1. File some bookmarks together with wesites that have favicons 2. Open the group using 'Open in Tabs' 3. Look at updated favicons in Bookmarks 4. Close all but one tab using 'Close Other Tabs' or one by one 5. Look at favicons again This is not a significant bug, but Phoenix must be purdy:)
Neil, it depends on whether the behavior I observed is accidental or not! As John also pointed out, the favicons sometimes get mixed-up. The short-term fix is to erase them and recreate them. The long-term solution, however, is for favicons to update/correct automatically, which seems more like a bug-fix than an enhancement...

There was a bug where favicons got misassociated with the wrong bookmarks. That bug is fixed. This worksforme now. Note, you'll have to create a new bookmarks file
