Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:98.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/98.0

Steps to reproduce:

I was writing an email then selected a different email address from the drop-down list in 'from.' Then Thunderbird erased the email I had written and replaced it all with my HTML signature file.

Actual results:

I selected a different email address then Thunderbird erased the email I had written.

Expected results:

Even if you select a different email address, Thunderbird should leave the email as you had written (all my emails use same signature anyway.) At least save a draft first instead of erasing w/no recovery (unprofessional.)
In fact Thunderbird should have option (like old Identity Chooser addon) to force you select which email address to use if you have multiple... don't just assume someone will use the first because not always correct, and may cause a major problem.
Maybe it's fixed in recent versions, but I won't be upgrading, reporting bugs for newer, nor recommending Thunderbird, nor donating, unless Unix MailSpool is restored.

Does this happen with version 91?

Summary: if you select a different email address the email you were writing gets erased → if you select a different From email address / identity, the email message body you were writing gets erased

I don't see the issue using Thunderbird 91.8.0 on Fedora 35 Workstation.
