User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:98.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/98.0
Steps to reproduce:
I started using Firefox Sync
Actual results:
All my bookmarks (HUNDREDS) are now gone!
Expected results:
It should SYNC the bookmarks on all my devices, not delete them.
It's a shame that there's not a single warning about this happening.
Also, when I try the suggested methods to Restore, nothing happens. See video in attachment.
I have super important bookmarks there (and please, don't justify this bug by saying "you should backup your bookmarks", because I actually do every day, but this shouldn't be the procedure, because not everybody is a tech savvy and they should be able to just sync without worrying about the technicalities).
What a shame, guys!

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Bookmarks & History' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Have you checked to see if Firefox somehow accidentally switched you to a new profile? As you've been using Firefox for a while, there should be more that just the one backup file listed. This page might be helpful in identifying other profiles: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/recover-user-data-missing-after-firefox-update

Hi Mark.
That was the issue. Thank you so much for saving all my bookmarks! :)
It's a bit of an issue that this happens. For people who are not very tech savvy and don't know where to find answers or how to ask the right questions, it can be very problematic and cause a lot of stress.
The developers should fix this and find a way to avoid this kind of situation.
Anyway, I really appreciate your help. Very helpful!

Sorry you had this problem, but I don't think this bug is actionable by the sync team.
