Bookmarks, file bookmark, new folder "startup", put bookmark in there go to a different page Bookmarks, file bookmark -- folder startup looks selected (different icon) so I just press OK button, but the bookmarks does not go to the folder startup, but rather ends up in root list.
Folder startup doesn't "look selected" for me on step 2, so I don't see the bug here. WFM 2002102208/NT4 Reporter: Novice users are strongly discouraged of using Advanced Bug Entry Form. Please use Bugzilla Helper to report future bugs: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?format=guided
Summary: bookmarks "file bookmark" dialgo doesn't work as expected → bookmarks "file bookmark" dialog doesn't work as expected
It does seem selected to me, here is the screen shot: http://polkan2.dyndns.org/~meshko/mozilla/bk.jpg Wesha: expert users are strongly discouraged from being rude to novice users. If expert users want novice users to use one form instead of the other, they should make sure that novice users get it by default.
Misha: Bugzilla Helper _IS_ selected by default (both Mozilla top menu -> QA -> File a bug and www.mozilla.org -> Report A Bug) lead to Bugzilla helper. Could you please explain how you bypassed it and went straight to Advanced form? It's still unclear to me. Regarding the bug: the screenshot you provided shows "open" folder (i.e. the tree of folders in it is uncollapsed), not "selected" folder. *Selected* items have dark (gray, blue ...) background, depending on theme. Thus, though it might be considered a bad UI example, I'm tempting to mark it INVALID since it's not actually a bug.
on this page (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176230), on the bottom, there is a link "new". I followed it from another bug report. Maybe this means that I was assumed to be "expert user", but my bug report was not expert enough. In which case I'd appreciate an explanation of what was missing from it. I agree that this is not a bug now, but I still think that this should be fixed. Notice that once a folder is selected (as in really selected, not the way I meant it), there is no [normal] way to unselect it! The button to unselect it (which is cryptically called "Use default") was added just for remedy this. So I suggest that a) new bookmark should go into the open, not selected folder. If the user selected "File Bookmark" instead of just "Add Bookmark" in the menu, she probably wants to put bookmark into a folder, not in the root. Chances are, she wants to put it in the same folder as before. b) The "use default" button can be removed c) the list of folders height must be increased (while we are at it) Is bugzilla wrong place to submit enhancment suggestions like this?
Misha, For future reference, the bug reporting guidelines are located at http://www.mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing-guidelines.html Your original bug is bug 76525, where folders with no child folders could be opened. This gives the illusion that these folders are somehow selected, but you'll notice you can open more than one. Yes, enhancement suggestions belong in Bugzilla (see the Enhancement severity), but please do a query to make sure these issues have not already been reported: a)Dupe of bug 75452 b)Dupe of bug 113666 c)Dupe of bug 146859 Please keep separate issues in separate bug reports. Thanks *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 76525 ***

Misha, thanks for pointing the "New bug" link out. We actually have bug 158353 for that, but the fix is still under development. You _can_ submit enhancement requests here. Just create a new bug (one bug should carry one issue only; if you have several issues to report, file a few bugs) and select severity=enhancement in appropriate dropdown box. However, please do a little research before submitting your bug, because, given that 176.000 has been reported already, the odds are good that your idea is already sin somewhere. In this case, look at the bug 113666 and the bugs referenced inside it. Do they describe what you want to suggest? If they do (even if not with 100% accuracy),just add your comment to the existing bug (though remember that this is NOT a forum, so try to make it tight and useful; no flame wars here please); otherwise, file a new bug. Thank you for your help in testing Mozilla!
