Table cell contents are larger than cells and they overlap. Effet is seen by loading above url. Same thing hapens on all bonzai queries that sends table that is wider than screen. Strange thing thougt that if you load that page and save it, and load from file, it renders correctly. Maybe something do with incremental reflow? This is tested on linux rh 6.0 builded 10/30/99
Works for me using 1999-10-31-09-M11 on Windows 98 SE.
Whiteboard: [testcase]
The problem shows up in the "Makfile.in Change Log" table at the top of the page generated by the URL above. The table cell contents contain e-mail addresses that can't be wrapped. NN 4.7 correctly allows the table to be wider than the browser window and adds a horizontal scroll bar. Mozilla limits the table width to the browser window width, and incorrectly lets the contents of each cell overlap into the next. Very visible as the table has borders. As seen by the reporter, the page displays properly if saved and viewed from a local disk (even if served by a local webserver). The reduced testcase attachment shows the same problem differently. Instead of the contents of each cell overlapping into the next, the first few cells display correctly and then the last four pile up atop one another hideously. Does not work correctly with: Windows NT 4.0sp3, mozilla.exe, 1999-11-07-08-M11 nightly binary Windows NT 4.0sp3, mozilla.exe, 1999-11-08-09-M11 nightly binary Works correctly with: Windows NT 4.0sp3, NN 4.7 Additional Information: The HTML generated by bonsai for this cgi request has an obvious problem: There is a <TABLE> (immediately following <BODY>) that seems to be meant to enclose the whole page, but has no closing tag (in any case, there are 9 opening <TABLE> tags and only 8 closing </TABLE> tags). This is reflected in the reduced testcase.
Something else: the first <TD> cell in the offending table row has the NOWRAP attribute, while the cells that were having text extend into the next do *not*. With the 1999-11-09-11-M11 nightly binary on Windows NT 4.0sp3, this one is getting wierd: 1. with gfx-scrollbars on, the testcase displays properly but the URL is messed up as bad as before. 2. with native scrollbars, the testcase shows only some of the cells, and then crashes. URL untested.
Placing URL and attachment URL inside Description to work around a current display bug: http://cvs-mirror.mozilla.org/webtools/bonsai/cvsview2.cgi?subdir=mozilla&files= Makefile.in&command=DIRECTORY&branch=&root=/cvsroot http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=2731
With native scrollbars, the URL is still displaying incorrectly as originally reported. The testcase is still showing only some of the cells, but the crash now waits until the browser is commanded to go back to the previous page. Here's an odd one: if the cursor is click-dragged horizontally below the table, the contents of the cells are highlighted. This suggests that Mozilla currently is stopping adding cells when there is no more room, rather than overlapping them as before, but the table is not actually closed. Tested with 1999-11-10-16-M11 on Windows NT 4.0sp3.

Looks like this is fixed now, at least i dont see any owerlapping anymore. (Linux, build date 12/08/99) Marking as fixed.
WORKSFORME - for both the URL and the testcase, the table is correctly displayed wider than the browser window, and no overlapping of cell contents takes place - with today's nightly binary but not yesterday's. Works Correctly With: 1999-12-08-08-M12 nightly binary on Windows NT 4.0sp3 Does Not Work Correctly With: 1999-12-07-09-M12 nightly binary on Windows NT 4.0sp3 Additional information: Did not check whether Bonsai is still sending out tables inside unclosed tables, but the testcase won't have changed.
Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
Tested on Linux using 12/15 build - verified fixed.
