Details

I start Mozilla mail. First thing I want to do is get messages. But, Mozilla is busy checking the server itself to pop up a "N unread messages" notification from the system tray. So it *ignores* my Get Messages click. I have to wait until it has logged in and out of the server before clicking get messages will work. Only a few seconds usually but it always catches me out. Can be much longer if the mail server or net connection is slow. I'm not exactly sure how this could be fixed. At least, it should not ignore a click - Get Messages should be disabled if it's not available. Second best would be to queue the Get Messages request and do it when the mail check has finished. Best of all would be to drop the connection immediately then relogin and get messages, but I'm not sure whether mail servers would be very happy about that.
This is a dup of bug 140741, but I think my expression of the problem is clealer.
