For the Private Browsing Focus promo in FX100, we want to show "Firefox Klar" for English locales in Switzerland and Austria, in addition to Germany.

We also want to show the Klar QR code in Switzerland and Austria, regardless of locale.

Hi, Punam! I have tested the current experience of the Fx100 Focus Promo in "Austria" and "Switzerland" regions and I can confirm the following:

• With the latest Firefox Beta en-US locale (100.0b6 - Build ID: 20220414190112) using a VPN set to "Austria", the "Firefox Focus" promo is displayed instead of the "Firefox Klar" one.
• With the latest Firefox Beta en-US locale (100.0b6 - Build ID: 20220414190112) using a VPN set to "Switzerland", the "Firefox Focus" promo is displayed instead of the "Firefox Klar" one.

Also from my findings, it seems that both "Austria" and "Switzerland" regions are using the Firefox "DE" locale and I can confirm that on the Firefox "DE" locale the "Firefox Klar" promo is displayed regardless of the browser's region.

Tested using the latest Firefox Beta (100.0b6 - Build ID: 20220414190112) installed on Windows 10 x64, macOS 11.6.4, and Linux Mint 20.2 x64.

• User impact if declined: Users with English locale language in Austria and Switzerland will incorrectly see the brand name "Firefox Focus" instead of "Firefox Klar" in the Private Browsing mode promo copy. Additionally, they would see the Firefox Focus QR code instead of Firefox Klar. Upon scanning the code they may receive an error stating that the app is not available in their area.
• Is this code covered by automated tests?: Yes
• Has the fix been verified in Nightly?: No
• Needs manual test from QE?: Yes
• If yes, steps to reproduce:

[ Behavior: en-* locale in DE/AT/CH regions gets Klar text & QR code ]
With a fresh build for an English locale and browser.search.region set to AT for Austria, users will be see a promo for Firefox Klar (including the title "Firefox Klar: Private browsing on-the-go" and "Download Firefox Klar" on the primary button). After clicking "Download Firefox Klar" they'll see a modal that also uses the "Firefox Klar" brand name. Clicking the promo action button opens a modal with a QR code that should link to https://mzl.la/3racU17

Repeat step above for CH region (Switzerland).

[ Behavior: de locale in any region gets Klar text & QR code ]
On a fresh build with "de" as the locale and browser.search.region set to "US", open private browsing mode. Clicking the promo action button opens a modal with a QR code that should link to https://mzl.la/3racU17 .

[ Behavior: all others get Focus text & QR code ]
On a fresh build with an English locale browser.search.region set to "US", the same promo mentioned above should show, but instead of "Firefox Klar" the brand name will be "Firefox Focus". Clicking the promo action button opens a modal with a QR code that should link to https://mzl.la/3Mgkcda.

Note that our approach results in some known limitations, for example:
- de in US incorrectly gets Klar
- fr in CH incorrectly gets Focus

• Risk to taking this patch: Low
• Why is the change risky/not risky? (and alternatives if risky): This change only updates a message configuration and adds and updates tests (fixing a permafailure).
