Preconditions:
ETP set to STANDARD
Clean profile

Steps to reproduce:

1. Navigate to: https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/cancellations-and-refunds-top7
2. Locate the "I am moving, what do I need to do?" FAQ section.
3. Click on the "+" sign of the "I'm moving home and still need a TV Licence" question.
4. Observe the result.

Expected Behavior:
The widget expands.

Actual Behavior:
The widget does not expand and the question is highlighted.

Notes:

• Not reproducible with ETP set to OFF.
• Works as expected using Chrome.
• Screenshot attached.
• Reproducible on all expandable widgets.

Please assign S2 severity to this bug since it is a serious and major fault in the functionality of Firefox and the only workaround (using a competing browser) is completely unsatisfactory.

This bug affects multiple high-traffic UK websites for example:

In Firefox 99.0.1 (UK) the detail for "Questions + Answers" at the foot of the web page at
https://www.brompton.com/shop/bikes/electric-c-line-explore?color=black&handlebar=high
does not open when the + sign is clicked, whereas in both Chrome version 100.0.4896.127 (Official Build) (64-bit) and Microsoft Edge version 100.0.1185.50 (Official build) (64-bit) Edge this heading expands as expected when clicked.

a) someone else has been assigned to assess the severity OR
b) Severity will eventually be assessed and updated OR
c) something else?

Do you not agree that this bug is a serious and major fault in the functionality of Firefox and that it is completely unsatisfactory that the only workaround is to use a competing browser to fully display hundreds of websites?

I agree, but someone else is assigned to assess both the Severity and Priority of the report. Also, a workaround to still use Firefox is to turn ETP OFF for this issue.

Where can I see what that means? (ie the legend)

Usually, that is the owner of the triage. P3 is set as standard from my side when a report is submitted. Based on the report and your findings, I am more than sure that you will be satisfied with the new value of both Priority and Severity when the time comes. I am afraid I can not direct you to the legend of the Priority and Severity.

Regarding the ETP, you can turn it off from the toolbar. Simply navigate to the pages in cause, in the URL bar, there is a lock icon and a shield. Click on the shield, and there you will see a toggle button next to " Enhanced Tracking Protection is turned ON for this site". Toggle it to OFF. On my side, this temporarily fixes the problem.

Perhaps someone else can tell me how to decode the Priority codes (it should be obvious to anyone that tests this that this is a serious and major fault in the functionality of Firefox)...

Regarding the ETP, you can turn it off from the toolbar. Simply navigate to the pages

But not with the public release version that I am using !
Switching off "Enhanced Tracking Protection" (ETP) does not solve the problem and display the page correctly with my (public release) configuration.

I can only reproduce this in standard mode with uBlockOrigin addon installed. Do you install a similar addon that block trackers?

For the record, this also only reproduces for me in strict mode or with the add-on uBlockOrigin, where I see this message:

That's found in a WebTrends script (https://s.webtrends.com/js/webtrends.min.js), which is blocked in strict mode. It might be possible to shim this script with SmartBlock. But again, that only applies to strict mode ETP for me. In standard ETP I'm not seeing the problem.

Unfortunately I am a rather ignorant person.

I don't think that I have any ad-blockers or anti-trackers installed - but is there some command I can execute that would give you the information you require about my set-up?

Thanks for your input.

I've noticed that you have installed the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials addon. I can reproduce the issue with it installed. I believe it's because DuckDuckGo also blocks the domain that Tom mentioned in comment 10. I can see this domain is blocked on the drop-down menu of the DuckDuckGo addon.

When I disable DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, both

now display as expected without ETP being disabled in Firefox.

Thank you for (presumably) solving my problems.

If I now disable DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials permanently will I then be missing any important protections ?

@gspambin001, I believe you can actually leave Privacy Essentials enabled in general, but just deactivate it on those websites where you run into issues (like these ones). There is an icon for Privacy Essentials in Firefox on the top-right corner of the window (I see it as a green circle with B+ in it, at least for the tvlicensing site). You can click on that to open a pop-up panel, and then click "site privacy protection" to toggle if off, and then reload the tab. That fixes the tvlicensing site for me, at least.

You can also "report broken site" to DuckDuckGo in the same green B+ panel, so they're aware when there is a site broken like this. If you do that for tvlicensing, it's worth also sending them the link to this bug report, so they know the reason it's broken is WebTrends. (I still have not found out what the issue is with Brompton, but it does not seem to be caused by WebTrends, so it's a separate issue).

As a footnote, I can't seem to reproduce the problem on Brompton's site without Privacy Essentials being installed, so it may not even be an issue with Firefox's built in anti-tracking.

For the record, it seems DDG privacy essentials will still cause this bug, but there isn't much we can do about that beyond filing a bug with DDG. I've fixed what I can in Firefox strict mode without their addon installed.

I've reproduced this bug on Strict mode, using an affected build, Firefox 99.0, on Win 10 x64 without the DDG add-on installed.

The issue is verified as fixed on latest Beta 102.0b2 under Win 10 x64. I'll file a bug for the remaining issue triggered by the add-on mentioned in Thomas's comment 24.
