1) How do you copy? (just highlight, copy from a menu, use the "copy" key on the keyboard, some other method?) 2) How do you paste? (middle-mouse-click, "paste" from context menu, "paste" from main menu, "paste" key on keyboard, some other method?) 3) As you do all this, what does "xclipboard" show?
Workds for me on solaris 8/sparc, using OO build 643 and Mozilla 2002102422. 1) Typed "12345" into an OO document. Dragged mouse over it to select. Switched to mozilla and middle-clicked into a form field. "12345" was pasted. xclipboard did not display the selected text. 2) Typed "23456" into OO document, selected it with the mouse, selected Edit->Copy from the OO menu. Switched to mozilla, clicked in a form field, selected Edit->Paste, "23456" was filled in. xclipboard displays the selected text after Edit->Copy. 3) Typed "34567" into OO document, selected with the mouse, hit keyboard "Copy" button. Switched to mozilla, clicked in a form field, hit keyboard "Paste". "34567" was pasted in. xclipboard displays the text after hitting "copy".
i don't know how to view xclipboard but in playing with moz and OOo1.01 OOo complained about not reading a copy from text from Moz, (that's a prob. with OOo) but the behavior on the copy paste from OOo to Moz is undependable. I hate to say this but I restarted the computer and some of the wierdness went away, and other weirdness (read: unpredicatable behaviors)appeared. I'll test more over the weekend. regarding methods of copy. tried through the toolbar, the keyboard and the mouse in a variety of combinations. thanks dgd
> i don't know how to view xclipboard You type "xclipboard &" in a terminal window. And please say the _exact_ steps you used (comment 2 is an example of what we're looking for here)... It's hard to fix things if all people will tell you is "something here is broken, but I won't tell you what". ;)
Where do I to get OOo1.01? Thanks!
Patti: http://www.openoffice.org/ then follow the big "Download new version 1.0.1 now" link in the middle of the page.
created text in OOo 1.x copied text through tool bar checked text in xclipboard & verified content was there went wikipedia.org selected edit on one of the pages activated curor in text form box ctrl + v to paste nothing happened went back to simple text editor opened new blank page ctrl + v my text was successfully copied from one text editor to another, it is in the clipboard buffer but it is _not_ pasting into Mozilla/ I tried three different sites with areas for posting but none worked and the data is still in the xclipboard buffer... tried copying from a simple text editor. same thing. copy paste is not working (for whatever reason) with copied text even though it is in the buffer. thank you for your help, patience and understanding. dgd
Reporter can you reproduce this bug with a newer build (1.4 final)? If not, then please close this bug as worksforme. Thanks.
This still works fine for me. I can copy & paste between OOo and mozilla with no trouble. Dennis, if you can reproduce this with current revisions of mozilla and OOo, please feel free to reopen the bug.
