User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021016 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021016 Many graphic images are missing on major websites like ZDNet.com, PCMag.com, and also on CNet.com. The same pages render perfectly in MS-Internet Explorer 6.0. This happens both in Navigator and in Mail&News. Just look at these pages side-by-side in Mozilla and IE6: http://www.cnet.com/ http://www.zdnet.com/ http://www.pcmag.com/ Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to http://www.cnet.com/ 2. go to http://www.zdnet.com/ 3. go to http://www.pcmag.com/ Actual Results: missing images Expected Results: should display as in IE6 Could this be that these web sites use Microsoft IE-specific coding techniques? Is Mozilla sticking to mainstream standards and refusing to comply with Microsoft de facto standards?
If this is indeed a case of conflicting standards, then what will be the resolution? I prefer Mozilla because I feel it's less of a security "target". But if it refuses to display images, essentially to stand up to Microsoft bullying, then its usefulness to me is reduced to zero as a primary browser.
Summary: images missing → images missing
Works for me - no images missing when testing on Linux, day old CVS. Could it simply be that you have blocked for images not coming from the originating server? (preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Images make sure you have checked the option to "accept all images".)
Reporter: Please do this : - Check if you accept all images in edit\preferences\Privacy&..\images\[]Accept all images - delete your disk cache in edit\preferences\adavanced\cache
Reporter mailed: "the problem turned out to be just the image setting." Resolving as WFM.
