Steps to reproduce:
The majority of websites do not support Dark Mode, because the owners never go the memo that it only requires a few lines of CSS to implement using the @media feature. An example is https://forum.qt.io.
I propose to add an about:config option to force dark mode via automatic insertion of the CSS lines below.
This is an urgent issue for people whose eyes strain when looking at a "wall of white" background, and who feel uneasy using a 3rd party plugin that may contain spyware.

Actual results:
There is no native way to force Dark Mode on pages that lack @media feature for that.
People whose eyes are strained by looking at a "wall of white" background webpage are discouraged from using Firefox.
Expected results:
There needs to be an about:config option to force insertion of the CSS @media lines, thus letting the user avoid eye strain.
This about:config could let the user to even provide such CSS.

Dark Reader is fairly trustworthy fwiw. But actually, there's a way to achieve that or what am I missing?
about:preferences> Manage Colors > Use system colors + "Override the colors specified by the page with your selections above: Always"
Will use the colors of your system theme (which can be dark, or you could even force it with ui.systemUsesDarkMode=1).

Many security conscious people have lost faith in plugins, in the same way that people have stopped blindly opening PDF attachments in emails.
But actually, there's a way to achieve that or what am I missing?
I've already told you what is missing: Firefox can simply insert the CSS into each HTML file that it downloads to achieve dark mode.
Will use the colors of your system theme (which can be dark, or you could even force it with
ui.systemUsesDarkMode=1).
That doesn't affect the colors used in web pages. Have you tried it?

How not? (I'm on macOS right now but pretty sure this works on Linux too).
Injecting that CSS is not a good idea because it is more likely to break things than not, pages will override those in a gazillion places, which the "Override the colors specified by the page with your selections above" doesn't.
I'm surprised to see it working for you. It does NOT work on Linux. Not at all. Clearly you aren't the right person to work on this bug. It requires a Linux specialist.
If someone can get the effect you're showing to work on Linux, that would be fine.

Pretty sure it works on Linux, screen-cast incoming. Also you should perhaps try to avoid being rude. I spend on Linux 99% of my time and I know a thing or two, I think. I also own the CSS engine module, so maybe, just maybe I know what I'm talking about, I just happened to be on macOS debugging bug 1771792 yesterday night :-)

If those settings don't work for you, I'd be curious to know more, but I'd need the about:support information and more information about your environment.
I'm not a mind-reader so how would I know you have experience or responsibility in this area...
Anyway, I did what you did in the video and it's worse now: I have all white backgrounds in Firefox.
My system colors are dark: Both in xfce's appearance settings, which is set to Adwaita dark, and in Qt settings.
Somehow Firefox isn't detecting that the system in set to dark mode.

You should feel lucky that people take the trouble to report bugs at all. No point in pretending to be emotionally fragile to avoid work. If this is your bug, you have to fix it.
Can you go to about:support, copy to clipboard, and attach it to the bug? Does the behavior change if you select "dark" in the website appearance settings in the preferences page?

I don't know. The flavor of Debian I'm using doesn't give me access to that.
If you look at ftp.mozilla.org, Linux builds for aarch64 aren't provided. Unless I'm going blind.

We don't provide official Aarch64 Linux builds yet, afaict. You could build Firefox yourself to check.
