Details
Steps to reproduce:
-
Scroll the message list (or folder list) to the bottom of the scroll bar
-
Right click half way in the scroll bar
Actual results:
The pane scrolls backwards but the context menu simultaneously appears
Expected results:
Scroll backwards only. The context menu should not appear when right clicking in a scroll bar.
If I am in the message reading pane at the bottom then there is no problem, the right click scrolling works fine and the context menu doesn't appear. The problem only occurs in the folder list and message list.
The desktop is Debian 11 / GNOME 3. All other windows, including Firefox, are working correctly if I right-click in a scroll bar.

Reporter,
Does this still reproduce for you when using version 102?

I updated to version 102.6.0 (Debian package) and I still see the same problem
I tried it in Safe Mode today using 102.6.0. I notice the following:
-
in Safe Mode, the same problem exists for the Folder list pane on the left side of Thunderbird
-
in Safe Mode, the problem is not occurring for the Message list pane

The message list was rebuilt in version 115, so this would need to be reproduced in current release, 128.
Benjamin, can you reproduce this with gnome?

I can't, at least not with whatever's on my laptop. (My Ubuntu laptop is running v115 at the moment, and at least for the short term, I'm not updating software very much on that laptop.) In TB115, on Ubuntu 20.04, using Gnome, the behavior I see is:
- the track of the scrollbar is invisible; the thumb of the scrollbar is visible only when I mouse over the track (and stays visible for a couple seconds)
- If I left click on the track of the scrollbar, the thumb instantly jumps to that position (specifically, to be centered at that position, unless constrained by the start/endpoints of the track)
- If I right click on the track of the scrollbar, it scrolls smoothly, as if I'd pressed Page Down or Page Up.
- If I right click and hold on the track of the scrollbar, it continues to scroll smoothly, even past the location where I'm currently clicking, as if I pressed and held Page Up or Page Down.
At no point do I see a context menu from right-clicking the scrollbar track. The behavior is consistent whether I'm in Classic or Vertical view, and it's consistent behavior in the Message List Pane and in the Folder List Pane. (I can't test it directly on the Message pane itself, because I'm using TBConversations, which I assume is a different UI implementation.)
