Steps to reproduce:
I have Firefox both on my PC and Android Smartphone. The syncing is fine for everything except one, it seems.
You know, there's those Google Now feed on Android. Often it's on the left side of the home screen on some phones, or they show up when you open the Google App. If I click on those news link from Google Now, they open in Firefox. But every news that's open from Google Now doesn't show up in History on my PC's Firefox, which is on Windows 11. Other sites that I visit manually shows up just fine. On my Android Firefox, everything is shown in history, but not on PC.
One thing I should add is, my Android apps are set to open links externally in Firefox. So links are not opening inside the apps. It's opening in Firefox itself. So there should be no issue.
Actual results:
Sites browsed from Google Now feed doesn't show up in Windows Firefox's history.
Expected results:
Full history should be present.

If it helps in any way, Microsoft Edge used to have the same issue, but they have fixed it a few months ago.

I see that it works when I open Firefox beforehand, wait a few seconds for it to sync, and then if I Ioad news feeds from Google Now it syncs accurately.
But another issue is that sometimes the "Sync Now" function doesn't work on Android. No matter how many times I tap, it doesn't do anything.
Check the screenshot, here I couldn't make it sync for 38 minutes at the time of capturing it. It went on for almost 2 hours.
The screenshot if from Fennec that's available on F-Droid. But it's the same on official Firefox from PlayStore. I installed Fennec to check if there's anything different, but the issue is the same. I hope this can be fixed soon.

I'm sorry your experiencing this issue, thanks for filing this report.
I wonder if it's an issue with sync timing. Do the google now links eventually get synced to your desktop? You should be able to test by searching for some older ones on desktop and seeing if they appear or not.
The other issue you mention is that clicking on the Sync Now item doesn't have any effect. Can you file that issue with the FF Android issue tracker? https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/. Thanks.

Sorry I should have added this info a few days ago but what I found like a week ago is that, if I open Firefox on Android first and then wait for a few seconds to let it sync and then links loaded from Google Now or Google search gets synced correctly. But if I don't pre-open Firefox then usually they don't get synced. When I created this bug, it wasn't synced even after a few days. I haven't checked since then.

Thanks for that extra info. I'm still not able to reproduce this one though, can you give me some more info:
- What version of FF are you using?
- Can you trigger this issue any time you open a Google now link?
- If so, can you trigger it then check your history on the Android device. Does the history item appear there?
Thanks!

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue using firefox 107.0a1(2022-09-30) on Windows 10 but unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce it on my end.
Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this issue?
- Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
- Does this issue happen in the latest nightly? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
- Do you have any addons installed if so can you list them?

Hello! This particular problem doesn't seem to be happening anymore, but a far worse one happens often. Sometimes I just can't make Firefox sync. Two days ago I had to wait more than an hour. Force syncing didn't work neither on PC nor on Android. This happens quite often. Chrome sync things very quickly like within a second or two after visiting a website, so it's always up-to-date on all devices, but Firefox sync struggle in this department.
Maybe it's a discussion for another bug report.
