According to the docs which are the spec of the API the data returned should included a changes hash that includes the fields that were updated. This is current missing and only the current component values is being returned.

Note to self: the other option (if this proves to be complex) is to update the docs to and omit the changes hash entirely. let me see how other APIs handle these type of changes.
