Actual results:

I received an email with 5 pictures and a video. Total size about 80 mb.
It took a long time until everything was downloaded.
No file could be opened directly.
Even after saving the files, the files were broken.
In TB 91.11.0 I could open the files without problems.

I don't see anything in your comment that suggests these messages came via filelink.
Imap account? Or pop?

Hello,
the mail was sent via IMAP from our club address at IONOS without a file link.
The lady must have deliberately ignored the message from Thunderbird that the attachment is too large.
As already written in TB91.11.0 the files arrive without error.

I don't know of any reason 91 would do OK with an 80MB message but 102 wouldn't.
Are you storing the full messages on disk for "offline use" or are you just storing headers and re-downloading each message when it is opened in the folder? (The default is to store to disk files the full message for quicker access and potentially for offline use.)
If you are only storing headers locally, there is an issue with the amount of RAM memory allocated for receiving huge messages here: bug 1589649. Specifically bug 1589649 comment 33 offers some suggested settings.

I just see that in my test profile for 91.x the files are downloaded for offline use and in my working profile with TB 102.x this is not set.

So I also set in TB 102 "Keep messages ready for all folders of this account on this computer" and sent me all the pictures and videos again. Now these files also arrive error-free in TB 102.
I also don't understand that the lady who sent me the pictures ignored the at least 5 warning messages.
Otherwise she always asks me if something is not working properly.

I don't think the setting to store for offline use would have somehow changed on its own on update to 102. So I'll assume someone must have changed it.
So I'll close this bug as invalid.
But if you somehow see that setting change on its own, let us know by updating this bug report.
Thanks.
