RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1774683

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0

Steps to reproduce:

Method A:

  1. Visit a site such as https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/01/asia/gallery/hong-kong-historical-photos/index.html
  2. Attempt to create a Windows 10 shortcut to the site by dragging the URL from the address bar to an open file system folder (drag using the lock symbol "handle")

--OR--

Method B:

  1. visit the CNN home page, find the link to the above URL labelled "From British to Chinese rule: Hong Kong, in photos"
  2. drag the link to an open file system folder

Actual results:

creates a 0KB file of type "File" that does not function as a shortcut.

Expected results:

The action of dragging the URL should create a 1KB .lnk file of type "Internet Shortcut" with the name set to the html title of the source (method A), or the text of the link (method B) that Windows OS uses to launch the web address into the default browser.

This behaviour is not consistent with all sites, but only affects (consistently) some specific URLs. This might lead one to suspect the fault is with the site, however I'm seeing this result scattered over several different sites starting after installing Firefox 102.0.0.8209 on Win10 over two different physical machines.
