Steps to reproduce:

Tried to save new outgoing server settings for a one e-mail account which did not work on another e-mail account. emails sent continue to use an incorrect port, and I could not rectify this.

Actual results:

emails would not send for one email account, but did sent for another e-mail account. Entirely inconsistent.

Expected results:

All emails from all accounts should be able to send emails to the single outgoing server settings in Thunderbird

It sounds like have mixed up which server configuration to use for the specific account. Check the global outgoing servers, and then check for the specific account, which one it is set to use.
