RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1777336

People

(Reporter: jheifetz, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/103.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

just tried to send a digitally signed message.
My email certificate shows it is valid from March 2020 to March 2023

Actual results:

got a pop-up saying

Sending of the message failed.
Unable to sign message. Please check that the certificates specified in Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings for this mail account are valid and trusted for mail.

I cannot even store the message as a draft.
On the other hand, a test message that is both digitally signed and encrypted does work. An unencrypted, digitally signed message fails.

Expected results:

the same as always happened (before a recent update) - Thunderbird stores a copy in the sent folder and sends the message.

This problem started with version 102.
I see entries in my sent mail log from June 23 and 25 that show the S/MIME certificate and state that it is valid.
