Details

Currently updating the product details in ShipIt requires landing code changes in the shipit repository.

Could we create a settings page where we can update the product details? This could allow Firefox relman and Thunderbird releng/relman to update and rebuild product-details adhoc without requiring code changes and Mozilla releng reviews.

We could:

  • Keep them in a table instead of hard-coding the values
  • Make it so Thunderbird releng/relman have permissions to update the product details for Thunderbird
  • Make it so Firefox releng/relman have permission to update the product details for Firefox
  • Rebuild the product details data when the product details are updated
  • Check that the product details API matches the product details in ShipIt? Display a warning somewhere if they don't? (maybe a red "!" on the settings/gear button?)

Eh, I WONTFIX'd this because the juice might not be worth the squeeze (the PRs work just fine.)
