User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:103.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/103.0
Steps to reproduce:
Open Firefox.
Actual results:
Popup dialog asks me to make Firefox my default browser.
Expected results:
no popup, because Firefox is already my default browser
I am running Firefox under Windows 10 21H2, build 19044.1826
To make the issue clearer, I have attached a screenshot of the FF and Windows settings side by side.
As you can see, FF does not believe it is the default browser, even though Windows confirms that it is.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Shell Integration' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thanks for the report.
Just some quick questions to get an idea of the problem. Did you set Firefox as the default Web Browser from a prompt in Firefox, or by manually setting it from Window's settings? Where is Firefox installed from - e.g. mozilla.org or Windows Store.
I don't recall where I set Firefox as the default browser, but it was probably in Firefox settings (not from a prompt). I originally installed Firefox form the mozilla.org download page, but that was long before the behaviour I have documented started. Furthermore, I suspect that both of your questions are irrelevant, because I have observed the same behaviour on Ubuntu.

I tried to reproduce this issue on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 22 on Firefox 106.0 and Nightly 107.0a1 without success.
It would be great if you could answer these questions in order to investigate this further.
- Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles .
- Does this issue happen in Safe Mode? (To run Firefox in Safe Mode, go to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode and follow the steps available)
- Does this issue happen only with .exe/official installs of Firefox or also with .zip/.tarbz2 builds?
Thank you.
