User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:103.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/103.0

Steps to reproduce:

I received a calendar invitation decline email in Thunderbird. It is a mime multipart message including a plaintext base64 encoded section (in which there was an explanation for why my correspondent could not attend) as well as a VCALENDAR attachment also base64 encoded, which contains the same text as above in a "COMMENT;LANGUAGE=en-AU:" field. However, neither of these comments are rendered by Thunderbird/Lightning, and are only visible by opening the message source (ctrl-U) and manually decoding the base64 text.

Note that I am corresponding here with an Office365 user. I use the TbSync and 'Provider for Exchange ActiveSync' add-ins, but I am confident that this bug is not releated to those add-ins, since those add-ins relate to the storage of my calendar, not the rendering of calendar-related emails.

My Thunderbird 91.11.0 is the current packaged version of Thunderbird in Ubuntu 20.04.4 and 18.04.6.

Actual results:

No comment is visible via the GUI. I get the text "XXXX has declined your event invitation", but I don't get the reason/explanation that my correspondent had entered in Office365, even though it's clearly present in two places in the incoming message.

Expected results:

The comment should have been shown clearly, via rendering of a multi-part mime message.

John, can you try if this still fails in TB 102 if you download the original from thunderbird.net?

Data which is not accessible to the user is dataloss to me.

Severity: -- → S2

Keywords: dataloss
Product: Thunderbird → Calendar

Alternatively, can you provide the affected "decline message" for testing purposes: right-click on message, save as .eml file, edit with text editor to replace private data like email addresses, then attach here via Attach New File button above comment 0 ?

Just received a TB 102 update on my Ubuntu 20.04 system. I'll see if I can reproduce.
