Windows XP Pro crashes when closing Mozilla on Java web page. Restarting windows, bookmarks are missing.
Mozilla shouldn't be able to crash XP. Reporter: Please use the bugzilla helper for bug reports. You have not supplied much detail here. What JRE are you using? You should use 1.4.1 from http://www.javasoft.com What mozilla build are you using? If Windows XP does indeed crash, then please provide information about the crash. (Error on screen, Event Viewer event, Minidump, dumpchk.exe analysys, etc...)

I also have this problem. It's crashed my system several times - each time when runnig java, with the latest mozilla. I'm running WinXp Pro (full, with latest updates), java version "1.4.1_01" (from SDK) on a dual cpu server system. Each time it crashes, Mozilla loses my bookmarks and personal toolbar settings. On reboot, I can add bookmarks, but not to the personal toolbar. A reinstall does not fix the problem; I have to uninstall mozilla; delete the mozilla folders in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data; then reinstall.
To see this in action, go here: *NOTE* this causes complete system reset on my box, along with total loss of bookmarks and the ability to change your personal toolbar. Plus it resets (maybe erases?) all prior mozilla settings. Under Xp with moz 1.3, go here at your own risk: http://www.sportsplex.org/Sportszone.htm Then close the browser. There are bugs on this website; I've told them about the classnotfound issues, but they haven't fixed them. Yet. Maybe this bug is related to some instances of as class not being found?
http://www.sportsplex.org/Sportszone.htm WFM (no crash here) Andy: You are using JRE 1.4.1, right? (There's a bug with fphover and JRE 1.3.x)
Yes, it's 1.4.1-ish (java version "1.4.1_01"). I believe I got it from the sdk; I'll have to check that when I get home.
I also had this happen last night when windows had a "disagreement" with my video card. Once the system came back to life, Mozilla had lost my existing bookmarks & I couldn't add new ones. I did have a java applet running (yahoo game channel for king-mavs game 5. go mavs!) when the system dumped; I assume the dump was caused by mozilla closing as Xp went through its post-failure shutdown. It feels like an issue with Mozilla when the OS dumps for some reason. Understandably, system dumps are bad. But when it happens, moz shouldn't lose all of my customizations.
That'd be bug 193749
