Using the 11/2/1999 nightly build on WinNT SP4, I went to Hotmail. I filled in
the username and password. I was prompted to save it in the wallet, which I
did. If I simply reload the page, or even go to another page and return to
Hotmail, it prefilled the values for me. When it did, the password appeared in
plain text. When I clicked on the password field, the letters all changed to
asteriks, which I believe they should have been from the beginning. This does
not appear to happen when signing into http://webmail.netscape.com (password
appears as asteriks) or http://mail.excite.com (values are not prefilled at
all). This problem also apears on Linux (RedHat 6.0).
Component: Security → Autofill
Changing Component to Autofill. I should have read the component descriptions
first. Sorry.

Who owns autofill? Maybe Bugzilla will know. :-)

Sounds like a dup of 17874 which disappeared as mysteriously as it appeared (it
was only in the tree for a day).

I don't think this bug was assigned to the right duplicate bug. bug 17874 causes
a crash and has to do with viewing odd chars. This bug is dealing with the
wallet and some weird asterik problem.

My guess is morse knows what bug to assign to but picked the wrong one on
accident as bug 17874 was eventually fixed rather than disappearing.
