Steps to reproduce:

In the mail composition window, I added an attachment by dropping a file.

This is under KUbuntu 22.04. It did happen with KUbuntu 20.04 too. I think this kind of problem started appearing when the new interface for attachments was introduced (ie them being displayed at the bottom instead of the top right corner of the window).

Actual results:

The text cursor is displayed at a position which is not congruent with the actual place where text input is inserted.

In the attached screen capture, one can see the text cursor being displayed just before a semicolon. However, when the letter e was input, it was inserted somewhere else.

Also, clicking in the text pane to move the text cursor gives bizarre results.

Expected results:

The text cursor should behave normally.

  • ys1, does this happen with ≡ > Help > Troubleshoot Mode…?
  • I'd suspect that this could be a distro issue. Try downloading TB from thunderbird.net directly.
  • Does this happen with Thunderbird 102 from thunderbird.net?

After using TB 102 for some time, it seems unaffected by this bug.

WFM per reporter's comment 2. Thanks for reporting back, YS1!
