What is "Ubuntu 18"? 18.04? 18.10? Please avoid ambiguity - thanks!

Catalin, could you download a linux build from the Elm project repo https://treeherder.mozilla.org/jobs?repo=elm&revision=5cf402e6d4f6bd0830794486210ee2c9284d14e3 ? It contains screen sharing updates that have yet to be merged to central. Additionally are you using X11 or Wayland? Thanks!

Hey Nico, tried with the latest available build from the Elm project repo but this still reproduces, can't select any screen/window to share. I'm on wayland it seems. I'll attach an screen with this here.

I had to do a manual regression search here and I found out a good build and a first bad build (2020-11-10 - Nightly 84.0a1), both builds xwayland and not X11. Here is the pushlog for it:
https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=5942060b993b1dc093e16619d661949da5a2fa9d&tochange=e581b02b5df54c1cdf194316dba74a5cf65145b6 (not sure which could be the culprit here)
On the first bad build the dropdown showing the windows to share looks like this (mind you that I have lots of other apps open in the background) and selecting Entire screen will not share anything.

I'm answering for Catalin. I can still reproduce this issue using latest Nightly 107.0a1 from today on Ubuntu 18.04 (xwayland).

Enabling the pipewire desktop capture backend on wayland is in that list and the likely culprit.
Martin, could you take a look?

Set release status flags based on info from the regressing bug 1675767

Yes, looks like your system is misconfigured. Wne you select "use system settings" a portal dialog should popup up where you select which resource to share. So don't use Wayland/XWayland on 18.x line where it's broken. For Wayland use 22.X line.
