libspeechd.so will perform auto-spawn of the server if it is not running, which wont work inside the snap. So we need upstream to support socket activation

Upstream has merged socket activation support, I'm now awaiting for snapd socket exposure support to be able to test that

Nathan, I heard you were still working on that since this landed on speechd side but it seems unreliable.
