Using Nightly, I got greeted in all my profiles with a message telling me that I have not completed (“66% complete”) setting up something. And suggest to “Turn on tab syncing”.

I deliberately chose not to turn it on, or I might have disabled it at one point because while I want to share passwords, bookmarks and being able to send tabs to other devices, I absolutely want to separate my Work-related profile from my Personal profile. Syncing tabs would provide a terrible user experience in my way of managing my profiles.

This page should either assume that this is a deliberate choice, or offer a “Skip” / “I do not want to sync tabs” button.

Without this button Mozilla might appear as a data hoarder while users want control over what data goes out of their computers.

You have to actively select Firefox View and can just remove it from your toolbar if you do not want to use it. As far as I am aware nothing automatically selects this in Nightly or anywhere else, never mind in "all [your] profiles".

I deliberately chose not to turn it on, or I might have disabled it at one point because while I want to share passwords, bookmarks and being able to send tabs to other devices, I absolutely want to separate my Work-related profile from my Personal profile. Why? You don't actually share a tabstrip between the profiles by syncing tabs, they just become available in separate UI entrypoints. It's less obtrusive than bookmarks (which get merged in and are visible in both browsers in the same UI).

This page should either assume that this is a deliberate choice, or offer a “Skip” / “I do not want to sync tabs” button.

This was a deliberate choice by product. You can discuss with them rather than here in bugzilla if you think this is a bad idea, as this isn't an engineering problem.

Without this button Mozilla might appear as a data hoarder while users want control over what data goes out of their computers.

The data is encrypted and to see this page you have to already have a Firefox account with sync enabled, so I don't think this follows, at all.

I'm going to close this out as it isn't an actionable engineering issue.

And where is that supposed to be, if this is not in the bugzilla component dedicated to the feature?

I'd suggest raising it over slack / internally, but if you prefer I guess you can needinfo rfambro here...

As it seems to not be obvious: you cannot "pick up tabs" from another device without seeing the other device's tab list, so the feature requires tab sync to be enabled. "Skipping" it would be meaningless, there would never be any data to show if you "skipped" setting this up.

I guess this is a miss understanding due to the fact that this new special tab was opened after updating Firefox.

And that seeing this page was not linked to any actions that I did, except clicking on this unknown weird special tab. And seeing an out-of-topic demand for action to which I cannot relate to.
