This issue applies to any standard email account. (I'm using Flathub version 102.4) It tries to detect imap details, but for some reason decides drop @domain part from imap and smtp so the configuration fails. This issue can be overcome by deleting org.mozilla.Thunderbird directory from ~/.var/app/ and restarting Thunderbird and then setting up mail account completely manually. I did not experience this issue on previous versions, but I'm not sure how many versions I did jump over when I reinstalled my system.

Jimi, your issue looks different from what is reported here. Please file a separate bug, and share the bug number here.

I believe this bug still exists, but it's not permanent, in that restarting Thunderbird will clear things up.

I encounter this bug when I try to set up a new mail account that is connected to Gmail. I've encountered this bug at least 2 times. If for any reason the process hangs, there may not be another way to exit except to cancel. Closing and reopening the application (it might take more than 1 try) seems to fix it.
I have encountered this while developing on daily, so my use case for closing the application and reopening it is different because this application is running over the command line.

I routinely (daily, usually) see this bug on SUMO. People setting up accounts with 102.9 and getting the 'incoming server already defined' message. My solution for all of them has been to cancel the setup, exit and restart Thunderbird, and to do setup without password. That has been successful.

Depends on D174388
Modernize verifyConfig.
Hook up unload (cancel) to remove the temporary server if we got that far.
