In the folder pane, i display the column headers NAME, UNREAD and SIZE. The
column headers can be clicked but nothing happens, the sorting arrow keeps
pointing down in the NAME field.

I guess there are two ways to go about this :
- Nothing should happen when clicking the headers (aka, this is by design): then
the UI should change to make sure that the headers don't give the impression
that they do something
- (Sorting) actions should be assigned to clicking the column headers

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. view multiple columns in the folder pane
2. click through the column headers
3.

Actual Results:
nothing happens

Expected Results:
1) do something
or
2) headers shouldn't have been clickable
We don't support reordering the folder pane. There is an existing bug about it
reordering in some instances, but then it's very difficult to reset it to the
default. Will haveto look for that bug and perhaps another RFE for sorting,
but basically we don't support folder pane sort at this time.

Well, how 'bout disabling it then?
Generic folder sort is bug 193314. Newsgroup sort is bug 97186.

See also bug 190641, which appears to have been fixed and which should make the
non-clickability of the column headers a little more palatable. Patrick, if
that bug's resolution satisfies you, please mark this bug as Resolved|WorksForMe.
Severity: normal → minor
Summary: clicking a header in the folder pane doesn't do anything → clicking a column header in the folder pane doesn't do anything
The sort arrows are indeed gone [bug 190641].

But the column headers still appear clickable in 20030601 [i.e., they go down as
if they were a button if you click on them]. Therefore leaving this bug in its
current state.

Disabling that behaviour as indicated by comment 2 would be satisfactory.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

There still are clickable column headers (that do nothing when clicked) in
TB 1.6a1 and Seamonkey 1.0a; but TB has a setting that turns off the columns
entirely, which you're probably using.
