This bug is for writing a proposal about collecting the following statistics about incidents:

  • MTTI: Mean time to incident, i.e. time between people know something is wrong and an incident is called
  • MTTD: Mean time to discovery, i.e. a measure of how long a problem exists before we become aware of it.
  • MTTR: Mean time to repair, i.e. measuring how much time it takes since the problem was discovered to when it was repaired.

The current Mozilla Incident Response process was amended to include the collection of incident response metrics. Data is being fed into this spreadsheet which will include automated statistics.

I'm leaving this bug open, as I need to validate the formulas after there's a bit more data.

Mark Reid help me review and manually validate the spreadsheet from comment 2 via this new one, which performs the same computations manually.
