User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:104.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/104.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start Thunderbird
  2. When I click anywhere it takes longer than normally to show

Thunderbird Version 102.2.2 (32-Bit)

Currently only one Gmail Account is connected.

I already restarted the PC last night.

OS: Unspecified → Windows 10

I can't remember since when it's slow.

It shows these messages left bottom:
Done
Compacting folder Inbox
@gmail.com: Connected to imap.gmail.com

When I click on any E-Mail it shows "Loading Message..." for minutes.

It often shows the hourglass cursor.

I have enabled the Title Bar which often shows "No Response".

Turn off automatic compact. Does the problem go away?

To me it doesn't look like normal:
When I switch from Tab "Inbox" to Tab "Settings" it takes 1 second.
When I switch from Tab "Settings" to "Inbox" it takes 10 seconds including that it shows "No Response" and the hourglass cursor.

There was also a message shown for a short time
"Unable ... maximum connections ... IMAP ..."

Compact was enabled over a year ago. However I disabled it now.

After disabling of Compact and click on any E-Mail it still "hangs" for seconds, it shows "No Response" and the hourglass cursor.

After disabling of Compact and click on any E-Mail it still "hangs" for seconds, it shows "No Response" and the hourglass cursor.

In that case...

Does problem go away?

Also, might not be software - could be hardware.

Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of
connections to this server. If so, use the Advanced IMAP Server Settings dialog to
reduce the number of cached connections.

Before I try the safe mode I tried to copy the profile to another disk and it showed only for the Inbox file the following Error:
Can't read from source file or disk

In Windows 10 Event Viewer, Windows Logs, System
I can see many Messages from source disk with ID 7:
The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block

so could be bad disk.

Thank for providing the analysis.
Also, FWIW, performance with 102.3.0 will be improved for some users.
