Maurizio, can you please try the following and report back:

• Right-click on the link to your Thunderbird, and choose "Run as administrator" from context menu.
• Does your UI get restored with your folders when you run Thunderbird as admin?
• Did you really use the automatic update by Thunderbird? (because "I tried to install the new version..." in summary sounds like manual install)
• Can you please provide a screenshot of your "empty" Thunderbird? (black out any private data, then attach here via Attach New File button above comment 0)
• Have you tried Thunderbird support ?

I tried to start the program as an administrator, but it doesn't work yet.
