Some people love Firefox, but many don't. It's a tool they use, in some cases are forced to use or use because of bugs in Chrome.
Saying "Thank you for loving Firefox" will really annoy many people. And I don't think it will help retention.
And as a dedicated Mozilla supporter, with Nightly as my primary browser for over a decade, I was annoyed by that whole screen. It didn't tell me anything useful and it delayed me getting useful work done.
And the next screen to change colors was useless, and the final page was useless text and a somewhat useful link to describe Firefox View.
Just put the link for "information on new features" on the "you've been upgraded page". Any put the fancy image on that page -- that's a boring page. Don't create a second new tab for the upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback.
I will set this bug as an enhancement so the engineering team could decide if they take in consideration changing this.

Hi B.J.! Thank you for your feedback.
The onboarding screen appears once per year, when we make major changes to the experience and want to notify our users about the new features. It is dismissable - you do not have to follow through with all the steps and can simply close the tab.
