User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:105.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/105.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Upgraded from Ubuntu 20 to 22.
- Firefox automatically migrated from apt package to snap package.
- Open Firefox, navigate to a page with more content than can fit on screen.
- Attempt to use two-finger drag on the touchpad to scroll vertically.
Actual results:
Scroll direction is inverted (scrolls frame, not content).
Expected results:
Scroll direction should match finger swipe direction. This is called Natural Scrolling in the Ubuntu Mouse & Touchpad settings.
Workaround:
- Open
about:config. - Search for preference
mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_y - Edit value, change from
100to-100. - Restart Firefox.
Natural Scrolling should now work.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Panning and Zooming' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Is this Natural Scrolling a new feature in Ubuntu 22, or did it work in Ubuntu 20 and was broken by the upgrade?

It looks like it's a feature provided by libinput. From libinput man page;
libinput Natural Scrolling Enabled 1 boolean value (8 bit, 0 or 1). 1 enables natural scrolling

Update: is a Firefox bug. The problem was a conflict between xserver-xorg-input-libinput and xserver-xorg-input-synaptics. After upgrading from Ubuntu 20 to 22, both packages were installed. Removing the later and rebooting fixed the issue. Workaround no longer required.
